Pebble Beach meets Sunshine Coast with new car event
Australia’s latest auto event is more than just another Sunday gathering for coffee and cars.
The Noosa Concours ABOVE July 15 modeled after the world famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the United States.
It will even be launched by Sandra Button, president of the California concours.
The plan for Noosa Concours is for it to become an annual headline driving event, with support from the Hastings Street Association and the Noosa County Council that organized the closure of the city’s central avenue – Hastings Street – for the inaugural event.
The event will see a range of rare and exotic cars on display, as well as some rare Australian sports racing cars.
Two of Australia’s first race cars, reaching 85 mph (136.7 km/h) on Southport beach in Queensland on Christmas Day 1916, will be part of the Panorama Show especially in concerts.
The goal of Noosa Concours was to emulate the appeal of the Pebble Beach event, which is why Ms Button agreed to make the official opening.
Pebble Beach is held on the 18th lane of the historic golf course of the same name, at Monterey in California.
