Honda WR-V 2023 launched in Thailand – SV and RS; 1.5L NA, CVT; Honda Sensing with ACC; from RM103k
The second generation Honda WR-V has been launched in Thailand, a few months after its world debut in Indonesia last November. First previewed by SUV concept RS Launched in November 2021, the “Winsome Runabout Vehicle” competes in the small SUV segment and is positioned below the HR-V.
In Indonesia, those opponents are Toyota Forklift And Stone Daihatsuthose are sister models with Perodua Ativa we have in malaysia. However, Thailand doesn’t get any DNGA-based SUVs, so the WR-V has almost no competition there (for now).
In terms of dimensions, the WR-V has a length of 4,060 mm, a width of 1,780 mm, a height of 1,608 mm and a wheelbase of 2,485 mm. For comparison, the Ativa is 4,065 mm long, 1,710 mm wide, 1,635 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,525 mm. It should also be noted that the WR-V has a ground clearance of 220 mm.
In Thailand, the WR-V is offered in two variants, namely the SV priced at 799,000 baht (RM103,072) and the top-end RS which retails for 869,000 baht (RM112,102). Four monochromatic colors are offered, including Taffeta White, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Stellar Diamond Pearl, with the last two costing an extra 6,000 baht (RM774).
The RS is also offered exclusively with a two-tone paint scheme consisting of a base color Ignite Red Metallic and a black hood. You can also order a range of accessories from the Modulo catalog to further enhance the WR-V.
All variants are equipped with a 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder DOHC engine with i-VTEC, producing 121 hp at 6,600 rpm and 145 lb-ft of torque. Nm at 4,300 rpm. The powertrain is sent to the front wheels via a CVT, and the setup is the same as that used for the WR-V sold in Indonesia.
To distinguish the SV from the RS, the former SV has a grille with dash lines instead of the RS’s chrome slats. The base variant also gets standard 16-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels instead of the flashier two-tone 17-inch models. Inside, the color scheme used for the RS is mostly black with red accents in certain areas. Meanwhile, the SV version has silver accents on the doors as well as the dashboard.
In terms of equipment, the SV version is standard equipped with automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights with sequential turn signals, electric rearview mirrors, black leather/synthetic seats with Blue stitching, blue stitching leather steering wheel, automatic climate control. -air conditioning, keyless engine start and start, remote engine start, Honda Smart Key Card, 4.2 inch TFT multi-information display, multi-angle reverse camera and front armrest.
There is also a 7-inch Advanced Display Audio touchscreen system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, accompanied by a 4-speaker audio system. Passive safety systems include Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, four airbags, ABS and EBD.
Stepping up to RS improves the kit list including LED front fog lights, paddle shifters, red interior stitching, rear armrest, 6-speaker audio system, telematics system Honda Connect as well as 6 airbags.
The Honda Sensing kit is standard on both variants and includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lane Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning ( RDM with LDW), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Leading Vehicle Departure Notification System (LCDN). The special RS also gets LaneWatch.
With the WR-V on its way to Thailand, Malaysia is expected to be its next stop. The compact SUV has been seen on our local roads, although Honda Malaysia has yet to confirm when and if we will receive it. Given the specifications available so far, would you welcome the WR-V here?
