Patriots vs. Falcons, updates, highlights from NFL’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ game

Rookie quarterback Mac Jones will lead the Patriots into Atlanta against Matt Ryan and the Falcons on Thursday night in a Super Bowl 53 rematch.

The Patriots (6-4) have won their last four games against the Falcons (4-5), including the 2017 Super Bowl, in which Atlanta famously led 28-3.

MAC JONES ‘2021 STATISTICS: How does Pats QB’s rookie season compare to Tom Brady’s

In last week’s 45-7 Patriots win over the Browns, Jones completed 19 of 23 198-yard passes and the highest three touchdowns of the season. Kendrick Bourne led the New England players with four 98-meter touches and one touchdown, while Rhamondre Stevenson dashed 100 yards and scored two points. New England’s top tennis player Damien Harris missed the match because of the concussion but returned to the squad on Thursday.

Jones will be looking to continue his hot streak against a Falcons defense that ranks 17th in the league against the pass. Deion Jones, Dante Fowler Jr. and Jacob Tuioti-Mariner led Atlanta with two sacks each.

Ryan, meanwhile, will try to build momentum for the Falcons’ attack following the team’s 43-3 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday. He completed only 9 out of 21 passes and was intercepted twice in the loss. Atlanta will be without lead driver Cordarrelle Patterson, who will miss the game with an ankle injury he sustained against Dallas.
