Parish MP Neil suspended for allegedly viewing pornography in Commons | Political news

The MP accused of viewing pornography in the Commons is Conservative Parish Neil, the head of the whip told Sky News.

A spokesman for the Chief Whip said: “After speaking with the Chief of Staff this afternoon, Parish MP Neil is reporting himself to the House Standards Committee.

“Mr Parish has been suspended from Conservative Whip pending the outcome of that investigation.”

The MP, a farmer, has represented Tiverton and Honiton’s Devon seats since 2010.

Prior to that, he served as an MEP.

He currently chairs the Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee and is also a member of the powerful Liaison Committee.

Two female Conservative MPs brought the charges against Mr Parish during a meeting of female anti-Tory MPs on Tuesday night, but he was not named.

The women told Tory whip leader Chris Heaton-Harris they had witnessed the congressman watching porn on his phone.

An MP at the meeting said Mr Heaton-Harris looked “appalled” and asked for the man’s identity.

Some 50-60 Tory female MPs are said to have been at the meeting.

On Thursday, Boris Johnson addressed the allegation for the first time, saying: “It’s clearly unacceptable for anyone to do that in the workplace.

“It is the same with all the ups and downs of the country.

“Clearly that kind of behavior is completely unacceptable.”
