Leo the Goldendoodle is a very spoiled dog. If you don’t believe me, check out the Instagram page he shares with his two canine siblings, Rowan and Otis.
Despite his glamorous life of junk food, toys, and furry friends, Leo has one special friend that he values above all else. It was some kind of brown stuffed animal. Since Leo bit off its ears, it’s hard to tell if this toy started out as a stuffed dog, a horse, or something else entirely. Whatever the luxurious entity was, Leo loved it, so when he accidentally dissected it during a boisterous play session, he was very worried.
A devastating injury
According to Leo’s owner, Hayley Alaxanian, he became a bit overzealous while playing with the brown creature, which resulted in the creature’s soft inner parts being exposed. Obviously, this is a very serious injury. Some might even call it a disaster. But can’t blame poor Leo. Despite his size, he is still just a puppy and too young to understand the consequences of his actions.
Luckily, Leo’s dad was nearby when the accident happened, and the man’s latent talent was about to come into play.
“[My dad] He took the toy off his body and put it away so it couldn’t reach it, but he still cried and tried to reach for it,” Alaxanian said. Dodo. “That’s when my dad decided to take out his sewing kit and start sewing.”
delicate procedure
In a short video shot by Alaxanian, Leo sits extremely close, watching intently as his surgeon father tries to put the toy’s internals back into place. His eyes followed the back and forth movement of the needle and thread. At one point, Leo appeared emotional, burying his face in his father’s arms for a moment.
Finally, the process is complete — and it was a success! Thanks to dad, the horse/dog/creature will survive to play another day!
“That was the first time I saw him stitch together a dog toy,” noted Alaxanian.
Leo felt relieved and incredibly grateful when his friend returned, as you can see in the second clip above.
Hopefully Leo has learned to be a little more careful with his stuffed friends. But as a Goldendoodle, probably not!
