The holidays can be the happiest time of the year, but they can’t be pleasant for pets to shelter in, especially after a pandemic has made shelters more crowded than ever.
The dire situation prompted an overcrowded shelter to issue an emergency alert on Facebook. If people don’t start adopting shelter pets soon, shelters in Indiana will be forced to start killing animals.
“We have a lot of animals that have been here for a long time,” Greenfield-Hancock Animal Management wrote in a blog post. supplications on Facebook. “The dogs are now starting to go crazy into the kennels. We are begging for your help in getting the animals out of the shelter.”
The Greenfield, Indiana shelter has long boasted its low mortality rate, but that was before the shelter reached critical capacity.
