Over 50,000 people have signed our petition!

OH! More than 50,000 people have signed our petition to claim #JusticeForDucks!

As you have seen, on Friday, July 16, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) contacted the Animal Justice Project to inform that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) will not prosecute Gressham Foods . Gressham’s Redgrave Slaughterhouse.

We immediately make our recommendations to request that a prosecution be made. The Crown Prosecution Service stated that it would “Not in the public interest” to continue with the case. But we proved them wrong: over 50,000 people want Justice for Ducks!

We are deeply saddened and disappointed when we announce that the Food Standards Agency (FSA), as of Monday 20 September, will not be appealing the CPS decision and will not be pushing for prosecution. This is more proof that government agencies do not protect animals and in fact, system designed to damage animals. The Animal Justice Project will continue to fight to prosecute and demand justice for the ducks in our footage.

Ducks have always endured a great deal of pain inside the abattoirs, but the Gressham ducks faced an utter horror in their last moments alive. The workers shouted and argued bitterly as they caught live ducks from their plastic shipping crates. The propeller is hit metal shackles. Even wounded birds are hung up and dead individuals are brought into crates with the live ones.

In just 12 hours of filming, we captured 15 Red Tractors and government regulations violations! However, Gressham Foods is still The red tractor is guaranteed…

When the slaughter line stops and a loud alarm goes off, the live birds are hung upside down in metal shackles for an astonishing fourteen minutes. The law clearly states that they cannot hang for longer than two minutes. During our filming, this violated both European Union regulations and UK law. This is a clear violation of the law but What consequences will Gressham Foods face, if any?

“Shackles involve hanging the birds upside down from their feet. This is an unnatural position and exerts considerable force on the bones and soft tissues of the legs and feet. Birds that are ready for slaughter are heavy – especially ducks. This can lead to fractures and other injuries, and is extremely stressful. It is an inhumane way to treat birds of any kind.”

Our vital undercover investigations expose cruelty, abuse and breaking the law that would never have come to light without our cameras. Big companies like Gressham Foods simply don’t care about ducks; they merely see assets and profits.
