Opening week in Saratoga hits double digits


Four days of beautiful weather at Racecourse Saratoga produced some pretty nice numbers for the New York Racing Association.

Despite rain for the first race of the meet, sunshine was the next day’s order, resulting in an 18% increase in bets and a 10% increase in attendance.

Through the first four days of the 40-day meeting, all-source processing was $106,401,827 (up 18.1%), with processing on track of $17,401,827 (up 18 percent) .5%) from 103,254 (up 10%) in terms of paid engagements.

A year ago, the first four days of the meeting generated a total of $90,112,255 in all-source bets with $14,394,438 on track and 94,078 attendees.

The 2021 meeting ended with the NYRA setting an all-time bet record of $815,508,063 and attracting 1,046,478 attendees.
