Opening of Gentari EV charging center at Bangi Golf Resort; RM1/kWh for DC charging, RM0.55/kWh for AC charging

Clean energy solution provider Gentari – a subsidiary of Petronas – has officially opened EV charging center at Bangi Golf Resort in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor today and the electric vehicle charging site is a co-development between Gentari and EV Connection (EVC) as campus at X Park Sunway Serene, Petaling Jaya.

This official opening coincides with the awarding of an Electric Vehicle Charging System (EVCS) license from the Energy Commission (EC) to Bangi Golf Resort, the same as the license granted to the X Park Sunway Serene EV mid-charger care and secure the structure and operation of the facility.

First previewed with the launch of the X Park Sunway Serene EV charging hub, home to Southeast Asia’s first 350 kW DC fast charger, the EV charging center at Bangi Golf Resort is now open to users use EVs at rates from RM0.55 per kWh for 7 kW and 22 kW AC charging outlets, up to RM1 per kWh for DC charging at 120 kW DC and 200 kW DC dynamic chargers, effective from December 15, 2022.

There are a total of 12 trays, divided equally into six for DC and AC charging. Two bays can receive 7 kW AC charging while 11 kW AC can be supplied to four of the onsite bays; on the DC side, two trays are powered by a 120 kW DC charger while the other four are powered by a 200 kW DC dynamic charger. The EV charging center at Bangi Golf Resort is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The dynamic charging configuration for the 200 kW DC charger in the hub at Bangi Golf Resort is so named to dynamically distribute the charge output when multiple EVs are connected to the charger. Here, a maximum of 120 kW is applied when only one vehicle is charged, with the remaining output power available to other vehicles that need charging after the first vehicle arrives.

When two or more EVs are charged simultaneously, output will be provided on a first row basis, meaning the first car to start charging will receive the highest charging rate, however, dynamic distribution means is that this supply is automatically redistributed to other guns connected to the EV when the first car charge is up.

For the last four electric vehicles to the four gun DC 200 kW dynamic charger, the minimum output, also known as the 20 kW charging resolution is initially provided and like the other guns in this dynamic charger, the top output will increase as the other cars, before that, each reach a higher state of charge.

Meanwhile, at the X Park Sunway Serene site, a full 350 kW DC charging output rate is currently being offered at the top rated charging socket, according to Gentari. Thus, the full 350 kW DC power is available to a gun on a first-come, first-served basis, until the first EV is fully charged. The 350 kW DC charger at X Park Sunway Serene is priced at RM1.2/kWh, effective December 15, 2022.

The official opening of the Bangi Golf Resort electric vehicle charging center is the latest in a busy period for Gentari, the company also unveiled its electric vehicle charging center at Petronas Bandar Baru Ayer Hitam in Johor. The setup in the Ayer Hitam includes two 180 kW ABB chargers, each with two CCS2 guns for four points delivering 90 kW each and one ABB 50 kW kit with a single gun, plus two 11 kW AC chargers.
