When Drew got home from work, he found Carl in the backyard with a loud and persistent barking. Although on the other hand he is a rather quiet dog, one night Drew was awakened from his sleep by the persistent and intense howl of Carl, who was usually very “silent” partner.
At first, he mutes the barks because they sound weird, but then he recalls that Carl has been acting weird all day. In a panic, he turned on the light and discovered smoke rising from the walls.

Drew managed to hold Carl in his arms and run away from his apartment just before the fire started to erupt from all sides thanks to a barking alarm. Drew has made another great discovery! A smoldering fire”in the walls” for days, it appeared.
All week, Carl suffered from headaches and sore throats, but he never linked them to inhaling compressed smoke.

Drew revealed that he does not want to adopt Carl because of the possibility of medical expenses related to his dental problems. But after witnessing Carl’s brave deeds, Drew now believes that nothing is more precious than a dog’s devotion and loyalty. He knows he’s in good company because he has a great relationship with his rescue companion!
