While certainly not one of those shocking moment of the year, Nick (Kit Connor) to Sarah’s mother (Olivia Colman) in the season finale episode of Netflix Heart stops beating Easily one of the most beautiful.
“Mom, you know Charlie is like my best friend,” Nick said of his relationship with his schoolmate, due to Joe Locke.
When Sarah immediately refused and said that Charlie couldn’t go on vacation with them, Nick replied, “No, that’s not what I meant.” Immediately, Sarah knew that they were having a different conversation.
“He’s my boyfriend,” Nick said. “Charlie is my boyfriend. I still like girls, but I also like boys. Me and Charlie, we’re going out. I just want you to know.”
Sarah hugged him and said, “Oh honey, thanks for telling me. I’m sorry if I made you feel like you couldn’t tell me that.”
Cue Waterworks.
