Oh my gosh, do I have to play Fortnite now that it’s adding slides and swings on Spider-Man’s web?
Epic Games wrapped up Chapter 2 of Fortnite over the weekend with an in-game live event, an in-game live event involving a hole in reality, a UFO invasion, a sexy baby and a new character played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The game’s island also flipped, revealing a whole new map for players to explore in Chapter 3 Season 1. And I found myself drawn to two new features that I generally love in the game: sliding. on his knees while shooting and spinning like Spider-Man.

From there, Fortnite entered Chapter 3, with the first season they called Flipped. The most obvious novelty is the new island, with new places to explore and more to come as the seasonal snow melts.
What interests me the most is the movement. I like to slide in games, especially slide where I can shoot. I skate in Destiny 2 whenever it seems appropriate from afar, I love skateboarding in FEAR, and one of the few Xbox 360 games I’ve purchased is Platinum’s Vanquish, which is built on sliding around in when recording in slow motion. And hell, I made my love swing with grappling hooks quite obvious over the years.
Spider-Man’s web shooter will launch on December 11, allowing players to rotate like Spidey. The game has had grappling hook guns before, but at a glance these gauntlets look smoother. And yes, it must be Spider-Man swinging because Epic’s vision for the ‘metaverse’ is an advertising platform where all the brands come together in endless cross-promotions as if the horrible movie Ready Player One wasn’t a terrible warning about how horrible this is. .
I don’t want to play Fortnite again but I do want to enjoy the fancy motion options and reward games that add them. Everyone please add slides and swings, thanks.
A curious additional note is an element of endurance between matches. If you find deployable, as well as healing, Tent items there, you can stock up on some items then get them in a future match if you find the Tent there. Huh!
Some bragging rights will also persist between matches. Place high in a match (top four in Solos, top two in Duos or top team in Trios and Squads) and you’ll start your next match with a Victory Crown, which will reward gives you XP winning bonus points. And if you win while wearing the crown, it unlocks an emoji that shows your crowned Victory Royal number for the season. However, the bright crown makes it easier to see.
