Ocean Conservancy announces the winners of the 2023 photo contest
Judge’s Choice Winner: “Synchrony” by Rachel Moore
Environmental Advocacy Group Conservation of the Ocean revealed 2023 photo contest winner. Underwater photographer and DPGer Rachel Moore took home the top prize for the winner of “Judges’ Choice”, entitled “Synchronous” and captured in French Polynesia.
“A once in a lifetime encounter with a humpback whale in the clear waters of French Polynesia” is how the photographer describes the dive, adding: “While drifting for miles out sail in search of whales, this trio, mother, young and male. escort, come to pass in perfect sync.
Rachel’s images were selected from hundreds of entries for three categories: Human Impact, Marine Wildlife and Breathtaking Seascapes. The jury was last year’s grand prize winner and geographic ocean Science Editor Alex Rose, Manta Caribbean Project Founder and Director Karen Fuentes, and filmmaker and photographer David Coffey.
