Nissan Skyline GT-R J-Tune – R34 specially restored by Nismo for Tunku Panglima Johor; there is only one kind of it
V-Spec, M-Spec, Z-Tune. These are the famous variants of the R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R that exist, some quite rare. However, the J-Tune you see here is extremely special because there is only one copy and it was made for one person: His Royal Highness Prince Tunku Abdul Rahman Hassanal Jefri ibni Sultan Ibrahim (also known as Prince Prince) Jefri Ibrahim), a member of the Johor royal family.
The J-Tune was the first car to come out of the Nismo Restored Car program and was built at Nismo’s Omori plant in Yokohama. Through the program, customers can send vehicles to be restored to factory condition or upgraded as required.
This car took the second route and was dismantled before being rebuilt from the ground up. The chassis of the car has been reinforced, while some body panels such as the bonnet, rear diffuser and fenders are made from carbon fiber and specially painted.
Unique front bumper with J-Tune engraving on the license plate base, the car is painted white with red accents around the lower body. You’ll also notice a J-Tune graphic that makes the vehicle even more recognizable.
Some 3,900 parts have also been carefully selected and restored before being fitted into the vehicle, including all the exterior and interior trim, infotainment system, gauges and interior. Some parts are more unique than others like the gear lever, seat belts and J-Tune branded bucket seats.
Meanwhile, the 2.6-liter RB26DETT turbocharged inline-six has a displacement of up to 2.8 liters, but no mention of the amount of power it produces – it is said to have a power-tuned level. highest capacity offered by Nismo. A special plaque on the engine cover identifies the engine specifically built and tuned for use by Prince Jefri Ibrahim.
With the rest of the powertrain assembled, the car was put on a stationary engine to confirm its performance, with a test drive also carried out by professional drivers to ensure it works well on the road. Those BBS RI-D wheels are painted in a bespoke color and behind them are carbon ceramic brake discs.
J-Tune is currently on display at Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2023, which runs from now until Sunday at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC). Come see this one-of-a-kind Skyline with your own eyes.
