Here’s our look back at Reverse Week — right here at Green car report—For the week ending December 10, 2021.

This week, we announced Car reached the final round in 2022. It’s the most diverse group we have in terms of vehicle type and size, and that says a lot about the evolution of the electric vehicle market. Then on Thursday we looked at why some of the vehicles that resonate are not on the list. Check back for a close look at what makes each of these finalists a strong contender, before we announce the winners on January 3. .

Toyota announced 1.29 billion USD US battery factory will provide calls for “electric vehicles”– initially hybrids – starting in 2025. It’s part of the localization of battery production that will help “pave the way” for US-made battery electric vehicles.

Ford CEO Jim Farley said that a Next-generation full-size Ford electric truck is being designed from the ground up for “extreme volume”. That truck will be built starting around mid-decade in a mammoth manufacturing complex in Tennessee. Meanwhile, Ford currently has 160,000 units of demand for the F-150 Lightning – so much so that it has stopped pre-ordering the electric truck.

Official EPA Range ratings have been released for the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. While the two have dramatically different styling, they’re both built on the same dedicated EV platform E-GMP — and both offer more than 300 miles of range in some versions, with efficiency better performance than any competitor of the same size except Tesla Model Y. . And Polestar 2 Single Motor earns 270-mile EPA range rating, better than what the brand predicted for this model at the beginning of the year. That’s more than a base Tesla Model 3 or a single-engine Ford Mustang Mach-E, as another example. But it still underperforms the Model 3.

Unsurprisingly, the specifications of the Tesla Cybertruck have changed on its way from essentially a rudimentary concept, as it was demonstrated in 2019, to limited production. CEO Elon Musk last week announced that there will be a version with four engines and four-wheel steering, allowing for a “crab mode” that sounds like that of the GMC Hummer EV. A “Product Roadmap Update”, which includes more information about the Cybertruck, is coming soon.

The All-electric version of the Chevy Silverado . pickup GM confirms it will be built in early 2023. The Silverado EV — or Silverado E as it’s sometimes called — will offer a range of up to 400 miles and will aim for affordability, although it’s vehicle-based. The innovative “structured sandwich” approach underpins the GMC Hummer EV. GM has also opened the first agent for the brand BrightDrop focus on fleet of delivery vehicles. It follows the franchise model, and both the EV600 truck and its shorter-wheelbase EV410 truck will be manufactured at a factory in Canada.

One of Nissan’s Ambition 2030 concepts from last week, Chill-Out, is in line with what Nissan has been talking about. What might its leaf successor look like? and is located when it appears around the middle of the decade.

The Acura brand will be “Much faster development” for EVs, according to a report, as it plans to skip the hybrid lineup that its parent brand Honda is embracing in a significant way.

The White House has announced a goal of making all federal vehicle acquisitions electric by 2035, with all new light vehicles purchased for the federal electric fleet in 2027. It builds on a number of EV-friendly positions from the administration, some of which have already been included in the infrastructure bill and Build Better Back legislation currently in the Senate.

Electrify America announced last week that they have installed 30 MW of battery storage hardware across 140 stations; and they’re looking to roll out more to enable fast charging stations in places where regional utility’s “charge-on-demand” would be prohibitively expensive.

Companies aim to recycle used EV battery packs there won’t be enough of them to scale until 2030, according to a new report from research firm Wood Mackenzie. Meanwhile, switching to solid-state cells could further complicate the ramp, requiring recyclers to change their processes.

Alaska is about to have its own public electric vehicle fast charging station network. Partially funded by VW’s diesel settlement, they will be less than 100 miles apart. You can bet they’ll use some of the knowledge gained from trams and charging during the Norwegian winter.

And while some automakers have looked to synthetic fuels as a way to keep the internal combustion engine alive in the future in certain vehicles, like sports cars, the Transportation & This week’s environment warns that emit as much pollution as regular gasoline.
