Nike pushed back the launch of their Travis Scott collaboration after 10 people died and hundreds were injured at the rapper’s Astroworld festival in Houston earlier this month.

“Out of respect to all those affected by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,” the company said in a statement shared via the app. use their SNKRS and Nike website.

Scott has partnered with Nike many times in the past. His sneaker collections have become so popular that some stores have announced they are stopping selling his shoes to avoid avid fans and resellers, according to a GQ The report. His latest Nike collab, in “Baroque Brown” and “Saturn Gold” colors, was originally slated to drop on December 16, but no new date has been announced.

Nike’s decision was made after Ezra Blount was 9 years old passed away on Sunday due to an injury he sustained at the Astroworld festival. Ezra was sitting on his father’s shoulders when the crowd began to crush them, his father, Treston Blount, wrote in a GoFundMe campaign created to raise funds to help cover medical costs.

Mr. Treston Blount was unconscious and when he woke up, his son was missing. Ezra was subsequently treated at the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma. His family said he suffered severe internal injuries and brain swelling when he was trampled by the crowd.

Ezra is the latest and youngest of the 10 victims killed in the crowd surged at Astroworld. The ages of those killed ranged from 9 to 27. One was a freshman in high school; another is a senior at Texas A&M University, according to ABC13.

After the tragedy, Scott commit funeral arrangements for the victims. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation into the rapper and Living country, the organizers behind the festival. And the Blount family is among the many parties that have file a lawsuit against Scott and the Live Nation.

Some have theorized that the consequences for Scott are just beginning. Throughout his career, the Houston-born rapper has enjoyed lucrative partnerships with famous brands like McDonald’s and Fortnite, but his latest projects, like a clothing collection his upcoming male debut with Dior, may be affected, according to Rolling Stone The report.
