“Ocean Planet”: New UN Online Exhibition Presents Winners of the 2023 World Oceans Day Photo Contest
A new virtual exhibition on the United Nations website is called “ocean planet” showcases some of the incredible winning images from last year’s competition Contest in response to United Nations World Oceans Day. The annual photo contest is organized by United Nations Division of Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea within the Office of Legal Affairs (DOALOS) Cooperation with Global ocean and supported by Paneraiwith contributions from explore the earth And OceanX. The competition was curated by Ellen Cuylaerts in collaboration with DPG, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and Nausicaá.
The introduction to the exhibition “Ocean Planet” says: “The photographs in this exhibition represent some of the most powerful images received and show how photography can highlight the ocean. They advance ocean knowledge—or understanding of our influence on the ocean and the ocean’s influence on us—and encourage all of us to engage in challenges that our oceans face. The United Nations website has hosted many other virtual and physical exhibitions showcasing images from the Annual World Oceans Day Photo Competition, including “Photography for Sustainable Oceans,” “Innovation for sustainable development,” “Our beautiful ocean,” And “Cleaning our oceans: Ocean ecosystems.” The exhibitions are on display at United Nations Headquarters in New York or online UN exhibition website addressing important topics that the United Nations is working on, such as human rights, Sustainable Development, climate action, women and girlsAnd peace and security.
The trial is currently underway for The 11th photo contest on the occasion of United Nations World Oceans Daywith the results announced on June 7, the day before this year’s World Oceans Day.
