New PS4 tournaments featuring iconic fighting, FPS and sports games – PlayStation.Blog

As we look back over the past year, we are grateful for the growth of our competitive gaming community and excited for what lies ahead. Over the next two months, we will be offering a new collection of competitive shows for PlayStation Tournaments with new opportunities to Sentry, learnand play.

A look back at the PS4 tournaments in 2021

Last year was our most eventful and competitive year to date. PlayStation players walked away with more than $5 million in prizes across more than 8,000 tournaments. We’ve also seen over 500,000 participants take home prizes from our competitions – a number we’re aiming to beat in 2022.

Recently, we are excited to introduce Flash Round tournaments. These are fast-paced competitions with no brackets or exclusions. With each round lasting no more than a single match, players can compete in multiple Quick Qualifiers for as many wins as possible and secure bigger prizes at the end of the tournament. You can sign up for Flash Rounds in FIFA 22 or NBA 2K22 on the Competition Center or on the PS4 console*.

Upcoming shows on PS4

In our upcoming competitions, players can expect less wait times between playtime, new formats, an expanded prize pool and more chances to win – including avatars PlayStation themed and PS4 themed just to join. Here are some of the new and upcoming shows on PlayStation Tournament, along with many more to come.
