On Wednesday, August 31, the FDA issued an emergency use authorization for the new Pfizer and Moderna mRNA booster vaccines for COVID. The next day, September 1, the CDC advisory committee and the CDC Director approved the immediate deployment of the new vaccine. They will be administered in the US starting this week.
