New book: “Shark: Portrait” by Mike Coots

For shark lovers or big animal photographers, Mike Coots needs no introduction. After losing his leg to a tiger shark at the age of 18, he became one of the world’s hardest workers for sharks, from lobbying before the US Congress to speaking before United Nations. The petition he created to advocate for shark protection in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands led to the creation of one of the largest marine sanctuaries on the planet.

As anyone checked his website or follow him on Instagram can attest, Mike also happens to be an extremely talented shark photographer. Over the years, he has amassed an incredible collection of incredible shark portraits, now gathered in a new book aptly titled. Shark: Portrait. According to Publisher RizzoliMike recorded “Tigers, Great Hammerheads, Rare Oceanic White Tips, Lemons, Silvertips, Caribbean Reef Sharks and Giant Great Whites, up to 14 feet long.”

The 240-page hardcover book, which will be released September 5, costs $60 and is available to pre-order now from Bookstore Rizzoli And Amazon.
