The best way to import photos into Lightroom

Did you know that there are different ways to import images into Lightroom? Here, we look at the most effective method to save you time and make sure you don’t even have to open an input dialog.

When you first load Lightroom, in addition to downloading and installing it, most people’s starting point will be importing images. It goes without saying that if you don’t have any images imported, you can’t start working your post-production magic on them. I use a number of different tools to import and organize my images, but no matter how important I understand such a task, I don’t think I’ll get excited about it. That’s why I’m always looking for ways to do it faster, simpler and more efficiently.

And that brings us to this great video by Anthony Morganti, in which he teaches you how to import images into Lightroom much more efficiently. When I say more efficient, I’m comparing it to how most people do it: open Lightroom, click the Import button in the bottom corner of the Library Module, open the Import dialog, select your folder and files, and go from there. It’s cumbersome at best, but luckily there’s a much better way to make sure you don’t have to go through all those grueling steps. Indeed, you don’t even need to open the Import dialog. How? It involves setting up auto-import. Check out the video and let me know what you think below.
