As if living life as a homeless dog wasn’t hard enough, imagine finding a place you thought was safe, only when it started to crumble around you.
For weeks, a sweet lost Pittie named Lily has now been trapped high up in an abandoned house, all alone. But the brave rescuers refused to give up as they climbed over the rubble of the falling structure to save her.
When neighbors spotted Pibble’s unmistakable face peeking out from the side of a dilapidated house, they knew they needed to call for help. Not only was this sweet soul trapped overhead and completely alone, but the whole building was crumbling around her. Now scared and hungry, Lily is forced to face the unthinkable.
How did Lily get stuck?
After retreating from the rising floodwaters in the basement, Lily decided to avoid the dangerous ground and its hole-filled floor. Instead, she chooses to flee to higher ground and go up the stairs to get to the second story. But not long after Lily managed to escape, the stairs fell to pieces behind her.
This leaves Poot Lily trapped, with no way for her to get down and find food. For weeks, she was trapped, watching the ruined houses around her as she slowly starved to death.
Help came quickly after someone spotted Lily from the outside. Ironically, one of the things that made this situation so terrifying ended up being what led to her rescue.
Rescue the nerve crack
If it weren’t for the hole in the side of the house, Lily might not have been discovered. But in the end, help came. Lost Rescue of St. Louis’ Brave volunteers are willing to walk (or climb in this case) into a dangerous situation to save Lily’s life.
As you can see in the video below, the house is dilapidated, with huge holes in the floor and broken stairs making it impossible for Lily to leave on her own. No wonder this pet dog trembled with fear as rescuers approached.
Lily was completely still as the rescuers slowly crossed the makeshift bridge they created to help them navigate the missing stairs. All the dirt, shards, broken glass, and leftover floodwater certainly wasn’t easy, but they were able to get the dog to safety.
Now she’s spoiled rotten
Today, it’s hard to believe that three-year-old Lily was once so skinny and underfed. Her new family absolutely adores her, and they do their best to honor her and spoil her.
We are happy to see Lily’s Transformed from skin and bones into a happy, healthy dog living the life she truly deserves!
