NASA has shared a gruesome red world map highlighting heatwave conditions in Africa, Europe and Asia, where temperatures have never been seen before.
The Earth is suffering the wrath of heat waves and sky-high temperatures. Conditions have reached such extreme levels that NASA has been forced to send out warnings about the extreme weather conditions currently observed in larger parts of Asia, Africa, and Europe. NASA took to Twitter to post an Earth map of these three continents and highlighted the blistering ground temperatures in these areas. Incredibly, almost all regions of the Earth have high temperature conditions that humanity is suffering from. Incredibly, countries like the UK are seeing temperatures soar to 40 degrees Celsius, which has never happened before. Heathrow in south-west London recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius. NASA has stated that a big factor behind these weather conditions are greenhouse gases that are built up as a result of human activities. NASA also stressed the need to take action to prevent extreme weather events from getting worse.
Yesterday, on July 19, NASA posted an image of a map of Earth on Twitter. It said, “On July 13, 2022, Earth’s satellites captured temperatures rising above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) due to extreme, record-breaking heatwaves over much of Europe, Africa and Asia ”.In the image, almost the entire map can be seen in red-orange color indicating high temperatures.
The map also shows areas with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, notably Ahvaz, Iran at 46.5 degrees Celsius, Seville, Spain at 42.2 degrees Celsius and Shanghai, China at 37, 6 degrees Celsius. Many of these locations are experiencing record high temperatures.

Interestingly, NASA’s post comes at a time when Britain is experiencing one of its worst heatwaves in years. Speaking about these extreme weather conditions, Stephen Pawson, Director of the Office of Global Modeling and Assimilation at NASA speak“While there is a clear pattern of ‘atmospheric waves’ with alternating warm (redder) and cool (bluer) values at different locations, the extreme (and record-breaking) region of heat. This is another clear indicator that greenhouse gas emissions by human activity are causing extreme weather events that affect our living conditions’.
And according to NASA, the heat wave is also causing financial and human losses. As Western Europe experienced a severe drought, heatwaves ignited wildfires across Portugal, Spain and parts of France. In Italy, the heat led to the destruction of part of the Marmolada Glacier in the Dolomites. China has also experienced three heat waves this summer that have caused roads to warp, roof tiles to peel and asphalt to melt.
Pawson added: “Such extreme heat has a direct impact on human health as well as other consequences, including these fires that are burning in Europe and Africa, and have spread over the past few years in North America.”
