MotoGP with Boris – Aragon – Nothing much goes as planned
MotoGP with Boris
2022 – Round 15 – Aragon
What more can you ask for? Return of Marc and Cal. The Beast pushes like an asshole (again). A tighter championship. And a Salvation Army band to start it all.
The frenzy was strong in the paddle when Circus arrived in Spain. Marquez is back. So did Cal Cruthlow. And even Mir has hobbled back because of a fracture, hopefully his ankle can cope.
Hope was everywhere. Taka has just been unexpectedly extended for another year with LCR. Remy Gardner looks fine with going to WSBK to race Yamaha next yearand Augusto Fernandez has been signed with partner Pol in Tech 3 next yearso all 2023 seats were filled.
There are also a lot of new sections to be written about. New Kalex aluminum swingarm for Hondas. New chassis for Yamahas, and a bunch of new flywheels here and there. And of course, Marquez is back so Puig might take a break from the tearful self-harm.
Marc is definitely back. But he didn’t get back on the road so many hoped he would. He was agile, but now he is not as agile or superior as before. He hung out for 5 and 6 short rounds in practice, and he didn’t set the world on fire.
However, he managed one of his trademark saves – from elbows and knees when the striker surrendered, and he also had a somersault over gravel a session later. He’s fine… but he didn’t ride as many hoped.
However, Fabulous is still driving his Yamaha, but he has never had much luck or success at Aragon, and has judged it not to be one of his favorite songs.
That left Pecco in a box chair – and on a pole. But five wins in a row? I was suspicious. I have adjusted my tip contest selections accordingly.
It had to be Beast, who worked so hard in Practice and Qualifying, Pecco second, and Fabulous maybe third, because… well, Awesome.
Jack made it through to the second qualifying round, and while I want Jack to win with everything in me, I don’t think he’s made it this year.
Aleix Espargaro is also still in touch with the good ending, and he still has a chance at the championship, although I assume the wheel has fallen off that bus and they will fall more.
His teammate, Maverick Vinales, showed some speed early in practice, but then returned to near the bottom of the net in 16. There was no doubt Cal, who was directly behind him. She was in 19th place, reminiscing about the good old days when they were both playing.
The first round was absolutely breathtaking. As Pecco, Jack, and Beast depart like burned cats, behind them all kinds of carnage reign. And Marquez was the epicenter.
Marc lost the ability to grab onto his back in Round Three, buttoning his shirt, and Fabulous lunged at him at a billion miles per hour. Fabulous flies away, his bike hits him in the chest, and Marc goes on, his bike damaged and debris falling off.
He managed to almost reach the reverse cork screw, where he tried to attach his rear squat device, which failed (damaged by collision with Fabulous), the bike turned left and charged straight at Taka. The way other racers avoid the LCR racer in the middle of the track is a series of miracles and skills.
But that event sent Rins relegation to last place, which is a pity, because he had some serious pace, which he showed by breaking through to ninth place. final.
Brad Binder is also very quick in the opening laps and uses a medium-sized front tire, instead of the traditional KTM hard front wheel preference. But that didn’t last long.
Miller brushed past him in brief order, and a lap later, Beast passed by as well. Both are chasing Pecco, who can’t seem to break through.
Cal is now the lead Yamaha rider back in 11th place and he finished as the top Yamaha racer in 14th place. No one understands or can explain why Morbidelli is so sudden. such despair. He did not give an interview, and Remy gave him his ass on Sunday as he finished in 16th place ahead of Franki in 17th.
Everything settles and the package stretches out into a straight line, and it starts to look like Jack, second, is holding them up. Behind him was the Burning Beast, in front of him were Binder, Aleix, Jorge Martin, and Zarco.
One lap later, Enea Bastianini defeated Jack, as did Binder and Aleix, and dashed forward just 0.7 seconds behind Pecco. The wall has writing on it.
Beast followed Pecco for a few laps, then went straight behind him and took the lead. Typically after that, he ran wide at a corner and allowed Pecco to cross, but he still went faster than his Italian compatriot – and on the bike Pecco had won at Aragon the year before.
The only one who showed up quickly on the field was Rins, but he was miles away.
Binder is in a solid third, Aleix is in fourth behind him – and no one else in that race wants a podium like rider Aprilia.
As the race enters its final stages, it becomes a tense relationship lurking between Pecco and Enea.
Reluctantly, Enea closes, and he lets it go until the last round to get past Pecco and keep him around until checkered.
Aleix also overcame Brad Binder for the other podium, and Miller finished in fifth, just behind the South African.
Fabulous’s DNF and Aleix’s third place tightened the title race soon after. It almost ever happened, and any of the first three, or even the first four, can still do this – and it looks like it’ll fade to the end.
The next round of flights will happen very quickly and we look forward to seeing them in action on the island after the two-year Plague halt.
And it really will be full of action. Espargaro was never closer to the world championship title, but Pecco wanted to win it for Ducati so that kept him up at night. And Fabulous won’t just let it go – he’s not Joan Mir, who, by the way, went home after excessive ankle pain he suffered during practice. We won’t see him again until maybe Phillip Island.
But what we are sure to see is a series of brutal and vicious races until the end of the season. Bring it in.
