Mother returns rescue dog to shelter without telling her son, sparking outrage online

If you’ve ever been part of a family that had to make the difficult decision of raising an animal, you know it’s an incredibly emotional endeavor. But being denied the opportunity to say goodbye can make an already difficult situation even more uncomfortable.

So when an anonymous teen posted online that he wasn’t allowed a chance to say goodbye to his first dog, the Internet exploded.

The troubled teenager posted about his emotional experience on Reddit; one social sharing site made up of a a large collection of forums where posts are made in the “community” and can be voted up or down by other members. Community, similar to a Facebook group where he posts his screenshots called r/Mild. Even so, many users are quick to say that the condition is more than mild.

The situation began about a month after his family adopted a dog named Chase from their local shelter. One day, Chase was nowhere to be found. Since the hairy family member was apparently not at home, the boy turned to his mother for help.

He texted her, asking where Chase might be, hoping he was just at home grooming. But her reaction was not at all what he had expected.

She replied no, and asked why he was there. The teenager responded by reminding her that that’s what she said last week. However, she quickly settles things and informs him that Chase has been brought back to the shelter where they adopted him.

Understandably, the boy was upset and informed his mother. Without warning, she took the rescued puppy back to the shelter. The teenager ignored the decision and didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to his first dog. He didn’t have time to come to a decision and couldn’t enjoy his last day with him.

When he posted a screenshot of the chat on the forum, he captioned it, “Gosh, I really p*ssed. My mom got rid of my first pet without warning me.”
