Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia sold 24,315 vehicles in 2022, up 27% compared to 2021; maintain top 3 non-national brands

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) continues to record year-over-year growth, having sold 24,315 vehicles in the fiscal year 2022 (FY2022) from April 2022 to March 2023, a 27% increase over In 2021, 19,217 cars were sold from April 2021 to March 2022.

This shows the company achieving a market share of 3.2% thus allowing the company to be among the top three brands among non-national brands in Malaysia. This achievement also marks the company’s highest sales achievement since its founding in 2005.

Leading the sales chart of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is the Xpander, which continues to be the best-selling non-national MPV model in the country with 13,794 units sold in fiscal 2022. This contributed 57% to the MMM’s total revenue for the fiscal year and represents a 52.2% increase for the model in fiscal 2021.

The second of the company’s two models currently on sale in Malaysia, the Triton pickup truck achieved sales of 10,520 units in fiscal 2022, a 12% increase in the period compared to fiscal 2021. This results in second place for Triton in the country’s pickup segment with an 18% market share, according to MMM.

“Triton and Xpander were the catalysts that helped us grow sales in fiscal 2022 by 12%. To conclude a successful financial year, we will continue to focus on improving our customers’ purchasing and service experiences to meet their growing needs, ensuring a seamless experience, ” Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia CEO Shinya Ikeda said in a statement.

Regarding the participation in the regional motorsport, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart aims to enter the 2023 Asian Cross Country Race to win a second place in the competition with a prototype version of the new generation Triton pickup truck, was previewed by XRT concept at the 2023 Bangkok International Motor Show.
