YRT’s Mike Jones dropped with a stunning 56,696 in the third of five laps he completed in this morning’s Timekeeping session at Wakefield Park. Job done, he spends the rest of the time in the pit watching the screens and progress on the track, the championship leader keeps his precious tires fresher than most. out of the yard in the process. Jones ‘56,696 down just two thousandths Maxwell’s Friday Benchmark but a clear statement that he has the speed to run with the defending champion.

The only one of the top 10 to have done fewer laps this morning was his YRT teammate Cru Halliday, who made just 4 laps with a best of 57,101. The pace during the race is expected to drop towards the second half of the 20 lap distance and it looks like Team Yamaha has that in mind as they head towards tomorrow.

Separating the two YRT men is Friday’s pace setter Wayne Maxwell. The Boost Mobile Ducati racer is still trying to race at speed and made 12 laps with a best of 57,096.

Troy Herfoss quickly took the lead with 57,132 before coming on to make a surprising change. Unfortunately, he then had a small somersault on the final turn after switching. He went back to the pit to check it out before going out and running some more laps. He looks like his old self.

Bryan ranked fifth this morning with 57,451 ahead of Arthur Sissis with 57,619 and Josh Waters once again led BMW to 57,692 by a millisecond over Epis.

Glenn Allerton finished ninth to secure the final transfer spot in Q2 while Jed Metcher rounded out the top 10. Daniel Falzon made huge strides to 57,980 after struggling with the bike all day yesterday. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the top nine so will have to take the Q1 session this afternoon while the top nine graduate directly into Q2.

Max Stauffer was sitting out of the session when he felt quite tired and bruised after a somersault here yesterday afternoon. He is not sure if he will ride this afternoon or even tomorrow on this leg.
