In this blog post, I’ll walk you through the latest on the recently announced online gaming features and extra bonuses included in the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection. Before that, allow me to recommend the Mega Man Battle Network series.
The Mega Man Battle Network series takes place in the Network Society, where advanced networking technology connects and powers everything from home appliances to the infrastructure of cities. This system is often referred to as the “Network World” and has become a part of the daily lives of the citizens of the Cyber Society.
People carry Personal or PET Terminals – portable devices equipped with sentient programs called NetNavis. PET and NetNavis allow people to enjoy the many benefits the network has to offer by “connecting,” a process that connects their PET to a variety of devices.
While advanced cyber technology has improved the daily lives of many people around the world, it also presents new opportunities for cybercriminals. The main character, Lan Hikari, and his NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, must work together to tackle the recent wave of cybercrime.
Battles happen when you encounter sentient viruses in Cyberworld. The player can move MegaMan.EXE freely in a red 3×3 grid while enemies move around and attack from the blue area. MegaMan.EXE can also use Battle Chips to an advantage in the face of enemy bots! Battle Chips have a number of uses, including restoring HP, damaging enemies in unique ways, etc. Get into the action of the Battle Network and strategize when and how to use Battle. Diverse chips are available to you.
The Battle Network Heritage Collection includes 10 classic games, including various versions of the main games in the series, from Mega Man Battle Network to Mega Man Battle Network 6.
Now let’s get into the new online functions! Players can enjoy live NetBattler and Battle Chip trading with remote NetBattlers by connecting to the Internet. You can access online functions through in-game sub-menus in each game.
From the NetBattle menu, you can choose “Practice” to enjoy random battles, or “Real Thing” battles where the winner takes a Battle Chip from the loser’s backpack. You can also choose “Triple Battle”, where games are decided in the best three matches, “Version Match” keeping the rules from the original game, etc.
“Private Match” allows you to play with friends far away by entering the room code.
In “Public Battles”, you can also play ranked matches against distant NetBattlers.
In the “Trade” menu, you can exchange Battle Chips, Styles, Programs and Folders based on the original versions of each game. You can choose Private Trade to trade with friends or Public Trade, which will allow you to trade with NetBattlers from around the world.
*A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to use online functions.
Don’t forget to Download Chips! Download Chips are Special Battle Chips that were initially distributed in very specific ways, such as live events held in Japan. A total of 15 Download Chips are included in the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection.
Some very rare and unique chips are included.
Finally, move on to Custom PET Packages. The Custom PET Pack is a DLC containing Special Skins and songs with a special arrangement. Special skins change the look of 3D MegaMan.EXE, your guide in the Legacy Collection. There are also four songs with special arrangements that can be played in the music player. Custom PET package will be available as pre-order bonus. Make sure you get it!
In Vol.1, Hub Style will be available for 3D MegaMan.EXE and two songs with special arrangements will be added to the music player.
In Volume. 2, Dark MegaMan will be enabled for 3D MegaMan.EXE, as well as two additional songs with special arrangements in the music player.
