Mazda BT-50 has a major upgrade in technology but the price is not cheap

Mazda Australia announced a new infotainment system and speaker package for its popular lineup. BT-50 There’s also the addition of high-quality Alpine equipment to its interior – provided buyers are willing to shell out the extra money.

Available on several current generations Mazda BT-50 trim levels – such as XTR, XTR LE (now discontinued), GT, SP and Thunder – New premium infotainment upgrade replaces the standard 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen standard with an 11.0-inch Alpine screen.

This new head unit not only adds wireless Android Auto (in addition to wired connectivity plus wireless and wired Apple CarPlay available as standard) but also Tidal’s music streaming service as well as into USB-C, HDMI, and dual aux.

Mazda claims the head unit’s available Class D audio amplifier and crossover have been specially tuned for the BT-50’s cabin.

The Alpine head unit is also capable of receiving and displaying detailed HEMA terrain navigation maps, designed for those who enjoy trail riding.

The Premium Infotainment Upgrade Package also aims to improve the sound quality inside the BT-50, replacing the front door speakers with 300-watt 6×9-inch drivers, as well as two tweeters (located in in column A below).

This package is available as a Mazda Genuine Accessory on all 2020 and newer BT-50 vehicles – including examples that come with Isuzu D-Max – however it is not cheap, priced from $4948 including furnishings.

Below is a list of 2024 BT-50s for which packages can be ordered.

A 5-year warranty applies to all Mazda Genuine Accessories when equipped with the purchase of a new vehicle. It’s unclear whether this warranty coverage extends to last year’s BT-50s that are eligible for the upgrade.
