Masks are no longer required for Grab, LRT/MRT and other public transport from July 5, 2023 – KKM

Masks will no longer be required on public transport (including e-scooters) from July 5, 2023, which is next Wednesday. In addition, the use of masks will also no longer be mandatory in hospitals on the same day. However, they are still required for anyone who tests positive for Covid-19.

The last update to the mask rule was in September 2022, during Khairy Jamaluddin’s term as Health Minister. At that time, it was decided that masks were no longer required indoors, but still required when using public transport and calling e-bikes.

In addition, the isolation period for people who are positive for Covid-19 will be shortened from 7 days to 5 days.

As always, the announcement comes with an encouragement from KKM to continue wearing masks in crowded areas, especially if you are a high-risk person.

Will you continue to wear a mask when taking Grab after relaxing this mask wearing rule? Share your thoughts in the comments.
