Marc Marquez returns to racing at Le Mans this weekend
MotoGP 2023
Round Five – Le Mans
After suffering his first right hand fracture in Portugal, Marc Marquez will return to racing his Repsol Honda Team RC213V in France. After consultation with three separate medical groups, all involved are satisfied that the bone has healed and Marc Marquez will return to follow-up in France.
The main focus of the weekend will be getting back to the flow of a Grand Prix weekend and continuing where Marquez and the Honda RC213V stopped. Marquez has been three times at the top of the podium in the top division at Le Mans.
The fifth round of the 2023 World Championship sees the Grand Prix motor racing cross the historic threshold, the French GP scheduled to be the 1000th event. Starting in 1949, the manufacturers and Racers from all over the world will start competing to win the top title in two wheeler racing. 1959 saw Honda take its first step into this world and win its first two years later in 1961. Since then, Honda’s history and Grand Prix racing have been intertwined as Honda 817 wins across all Grand Prix classes to date.
Marc marquez
“I’m really excited to be back with Team Repsol Honda, about to get back to cycling. First of all, I would like to thank my medical team for their professionalism and advice over the past few weeks. Of course as a racer you always want to be back as soon as possible, but with an injury like this it’s really important to let it heal. Now that I’m here and fully focused on riding, I don’t have to worry about the wound because it’s completely healed. Let’s see what the French GP has to offer and most importantly, let’s bring out our full potential.“
After completing a busy post-race test, Joan Mir arrived at Le Mans hoping to find stability and improvement. After showing their potential during testing and the first races, there’s no doubt that Mir and the Honda RC213V will have much more to offer after a number of challenging laps. Putting together a consistent weekend will be Mir’s main focus, making the most of all available tracking time. As always at Le Mans, the weather is likely to be a turn-of-the-mill on any given weekend but cooler conditions are forecast to suit Mir rather than scorching hot conditions in Jerez.
Joan Mir
“Coming to France, we come with an open mind. We had a busy test on Monday where we got to try out a few things, especially working with the bike’s basic setup. I hope that we will be able to profit from this by the end of the week. The French GP always has an element of weather, usually it’s cold or rainy. It’s a bit colder at the moment, but these cooler conditions look better for us this year, so we’re trying to make the most of the current situation. No problem, we continue to work together.“
