Man keeps his promise by getting back the dog he was forced to surrender 4 months ago

Lewis Jiminez adopted Titus as an 8-month-old puppy from Austin Animal Center in 2013, never imagined that fate would force him to return the puppy in November 2017 because of a dispute with a homeowner.

On February 25, Jiminez finally found new housing that would allow Pit Bulls and he was able to adopt Titus again. Thankfully, he was not adopted by anyone else while Jiminez was looking for affordable housing that would allow Titus to return home again. The Shelter staff, who watched Jiminez visit Titus several times during his stay, were delighted to see the two finally reunited.

In a Facebook post, the Austin Animal Center said,

“The pictures right here make our hearts so happy.

Titus has been with us for 4 months. His family was forced to turn him in due to problems with their apartment complex, but they have moved mountains to bring him home ever since.

Titus was under stress at the shelter and was having a rough time in general. His family will be visiting him, but we can’t imagine the heartache for them or him every time they have to go without him. They raised him from an early age; they were the only family he had ever known.

Yesterday is the day we all have been waiting for. When he got a new home, Titus’s father came to take him home. And as you can see from the pictures, happiness is a shorthand for this moment. 😍❤️”

One of Jiminez’s neighbors resented sharing an apartment building with a Pit Bull and repeatedly complained to management. Jiminez even had to take Titus for a walk at 4am when no one was around. But the situation arose in November when Jiminez’s 10-year-old grandson took Titus for a walk and met the fussy neighbor, where Titus “squeezed the neighbor’s finger” according to him. TODAY. Although Jiminez did not witness the incident, he believes Titus is trying to protect his nephew.

Worried about being kicked out of the house, Jiminez did the last thing he ever imagined – he returned Titus. Austin Animal Center. During the times Jiminez visited Titus in the bunker, he repeatedly promised Titus that one day he would come back to him – he just hoped he would arrive in time. Fortunately, the Austin Animal Center has a live release rate of 97.9%, so it’s very unlikely that Titus will die; the only concern is that he will be adopted before Jiminez can change his life circumstances.

At the end of February, Jiminez and his girlfriend found an affordable house to rent in need of renovation – something Jiminez does for a living. Austin Animal Center Spokesperson Jennifer Olohan told TODAY:

“Titus has received a lot of love here with his home from staff and volunteers. He often goes for walks, plays with toys and gets lots of snacks. The news of Titus’s reunion spread through the house quite quickly and there were tears in everyone’s eyes.

Jiminez is extremely grateful to have Titus back. He said TODAY:

“Animals are our family. He is at home. He’s at home, and he’s happy.”
