Maksim Chmerkovskiy returns to Poland amid Russia-Ukraine crisis
Maksim Chmerkovskiy is sharing an update from Poland to step up relief efforts for his native Ukraine.
Immediately after arriving in the Central European country from the United States on March 20, Dancing with the stars alum took to social media to share the news with his followers. In his Instagram Live video, Maksim says he and his family have started a charity in which he was there to organize and help distribute aid after Russia invaded Ukraine.
“My father [Aleksandr Chmerkovskiy] and my brother [Val Chmerkovskiy], along with so many people with whom we work all the time, we are just friends and with their help we have founded our organization, Baranova 27,” said Maksim. For those’ I’ve been following, Baranova 27 is the address where my father, I and Val were born, in Odesa, Ukraine. So that’s where our roots are. And we worked diligently to make the Baranova 27 something, as big as it took off, so it could continue to be. “
