You should use LumaFusion if…
1. You want a quick edit
One of the great things about LumaFusion is that it’s so easy to use. Designed for iPad and iPhone, it makes advanced video editing accessible to those with little or no prior experience. While my primary video editor on Mac is Adobe PremiereProI use DaVinci Resolve Studio a lot, but I spend a lot of time researching how to do things in it.
2. You have not used DaVinci Resolve
If you don’t have a ton of DaVinci Resolve experience with you, then LumaFusion is the best option.
3. You want a low cost option
For $29.99, LumaFusion offers plenty of features at a price that’s hard to beat.
4. You want a solution that works with other devices
LumaFusion will not only work on your iPad but also on your iPhone and Mac (and you only need to purchase one as long as all devices share the same App Store account), while DaVinci Resolve will only run on iPad. (A separate version of DaVinci Resolve is available for Mac and Windows, but if you want to upgrade Studio, you’ll need a separate license for iPad and Mac or Windows.)

5. Touch is your main method of interaction
LumaFusion is perfect for people who use their fingers instead of apple pencil and keyboard, which is even easier to use on smaller devices like the iPhone.
You should use DaVinci Resolve if…
1. Have you used DaVinci Resolve on your desktop or laptop?
This is no wisdom. There’s no point in relearning a new app, especially if you’re planning to take it seriously on your iPad.
2. You have a new iPad Pro M2
DaVinci Resolve is a total force on New iPad Pro M2. It’s like sitting in front of DaVinci Resolve on a desktop system. And if you have a apple pencil and a keyboardthen you’ve got everything you need.
3. You don’t want to pay
DaVinci Resolve is free. Yes, it’s free. $0.

When I install this app, I expect to get a lot of prompts asking me to pay $95 to upgrade Studio. That didn’t happen — you’re only prompted to upgrade if you try to use a premium feature. All the basic tools you need to edit videos are available for free.
4. You want to get serious about video editing
DaVinci Resolve is a serious tool, and it gets even more serious if you upgrade to the Studio edition. If you want to learn how professionals edit videos, this is the way to go. Just keep in mind that there’s a lot to learn about using the app at that level.
