Lotus Eletre EV coming soon in Malaysia – super SUV with 3 variants including R 905 hp, from RM630k est

The Lotus Eletre EV, which Hethel calls an ‘all-electric super SUV’, has been confirmed for Malaysia and will be available soon. According to our sources, the EV has more than 100 pre-orders even though Lotus Cars Malaysia (LCM) has no marketing activities.

We heard that LCM will bring all three variants of EV SUV, namely Eletre, Eletre S and Eletre R. Expected price is said to be from RM630k, taking advantage of electric vehicle tax incentives. The final RRP can be even lower, as distributors are always cautious when giving estimates.

If it were to cost around RM600,000, the Lotus SUV would be quite a steal, and here’s why. The standard Eletre and S are powered by a single electric motor that draws water from a 112 kWh battery. Both have a capacity of 603 hp (450 kW) and 710 Nm of torque, helping the large SUV Lamborghini Urus reach 100 km / h in just 4.5 seconds. The 80 to 120 km/h sprint, hinting at overtaking ability, is under 2.2 seconds. The claimed WLTP range is 600 km.

That’s impressive, but the Eletre R is the real super SUV. With a dual-motor that produces 905 hp (675 kW) and 985 Nm of torque, the car’s 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 2.95 seconds and the 80-120 km/h acceleration takes 2.95 seconds. less than 1.9 seconds. It uses the same 112 kWh battery and WLTP range is 490 km, so you have to trade some miles for speed. Top speed is 258 km/h for single engine and 265 km/h for dual engine R.

In the charging department, Lotus says that the 800V Eletre architecture’s 112 kWh battery has a fast charge time (10% to 80% SOC) in just 20 minutes when using a DC charger without further explanation.

In terms of drivability and handling, the Eletre may be the biggest and heaviest car Hethel’s dynamics team has ever worked on, being an EV battery-powered SUV, but we wouldn’t bet on the tiers. masters in the art of finding good balance.

Anyway, 600 hp for +/- RM600k might be unprecedented, perhaps only possible with our current, electric motor combination Tax free for electric vehicles and a challenger brand in Lotus. For some contexts, the Porsche Cayenne CKD with a 3.0L V6 engine that has a capacity of 340 horsepower / 450 Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. Assembled locally at Kulim, the ICE SUV is priced from RM575k.

We understand that the top variant hyper R with 905 hp will not exceed RM 1 million even if all option boxes are ticked. If you have such a bank balance, then Eletre is like a stolen item. We’ll share more information as it becomes available, but for now, what do you think of the Lotus Eletre, looks, performance on offer, and a value around RM600k?
