Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and TOLO Thoroughbreds’ Queen Goddess had never run on dirt before their breakout success in the black genre in American Oaks. Taking the lead in American Oaks, Empire Maker’s daughter sprouted wings on the main road, controlled speed throughout, and increased noticeably with a score of 2 3/4 length. She earned 107 Fat Equibase Speed Figures for the effort.
The Queen Goddess won’t be able to slip away from her opponent so easily in Bayakoa, as the Princess of Mariah opposes and Miss Bigly also flashing early speed consistent.
Coached by Michael McCarthy, the Queen Mother will be driven by racer David Cabrera. While she runs without Lasix in the American Oaks, she will compete with Lasix in Saturday’s race.
Mariah’s Coach and Princess both have style wins over Hot Springs, Ark., Oval. The Kueber Racing coach beat the three-length winner in the January 8 Pippin Bet, taking his second straight win since returning from eight-month layoffs over coach Brad Cox.
Rigney Racing’s Princess Mariah, like Coach, is another person to have scored two consecutive wins since a long hiatus from racing. Intern Phil Bauer walked 6 1/4 lengths on November 4 Churchill Downs Allowance contest before the draw comes to a three-length tally in the Mistletoe Stocks on December 4 during the opening weekend in Oaklawn.
