Live stream at UK Open 2022, watch online: Round 1 coverage, TV schedule with Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy

The 150th Open Championship in St. Andrews is the pinnacle of the sport: the oldest major is being played at the game’s most historic course with the Claret Jug awarded to one of the finest golfers. Four days of pristine golf kicks off on Thursday when the Old Course in Scotland hosts The Open for the first time since 2015.

Anticipation was in full swing as the game kicked in as Rory McIlroy entered the field as the favorite on the field. Ulsterman has played some of the best golf games of his career in 2022, and despite three major top-10 finishes to date, he has yet to escape success with the first crown. His first since winning the event and the PGA Championship back -Back in 2014. It looks like that could be the case after his first 18 holes, like McIlroy posted a 66 to sit back two photos leading after Round 1.

After taking a break from the US Open to recuperate his still healthy leg, Tiger Woods is back on the main court for the third time this season. Woods, a three-time champion of the year at The Open, holder of St. Andrews is his favorite pitch, will be trying to win a third Claret Jug at the Old Course in what may be his last legitimate chance to do so.

That effort looked futile at the start of Round 1 as Tiger immediately doubled his first shot, found the initial water, and pushed a controllable putt through the hole. He’ll likely recover somewhat from the round’s prompts, but it’s not an ideal start given how hard Tiger worked to get healthy enough to play St. Andrews.

Xander Schauffele, who recently won the Scottish Open, is just behind McIlroy on the odds with other stars like Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, US Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick and PGA champion Justin Thomas. Round 1. Even beyond those golfers, there’s so much to watch this week that it can be overwhelming at times. Don’t worry: We have you covered.
