With just a few weeks to go until Destiny 2: Lightfall launches, we’re excited to announce that starting today, the critically-acclaimed Beyond Light expansion will be available to PlayStation Plus members for through March 6. This prologue will help Guardians prepare for Lightfall by taking full advantage of Beyond Light’s Stasis subclass, powerful Exotics, etc.
Beyond Light not only unlocks an entire icy-themed subclass called Stasis, the expansion also includes a thrilling campaign filled with ice-cold cosmetics, Legendary gear, armor, and exotic weapons. strangely strong.
Use powerful weapons
Weapons like No Time to Explain, the Bizarre Pulse Rifle belong to the iconic Time Travel Stranger.
No more time to explain: Accurate hits and hits on enemies affected by Stasis will return ammo to the magazine. Stack this effect to summon a portal that will fire bullets from the weapon’s alternate timeline.
And because of the way Destiny 2 allows you to increase the power of the weapons and armor you collect, the gear you love in Beyond Light can be just as powerful as you want it to be as you head into your Lightfall adventure. That means you can immediately start building your Guardian into an icy monster-slaying machine that will make Neptune’s Tormentors shiver in their boots.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves; Lightfall doesn’t launch until February 28. Today we’re heading towards Europa, a cold and dangerous moon of Jupiter. So let’s start with the power that Eramis, Kell of Darkness, is after—the same power you’ll master as you play through the campaign.
First Shadow Subclass: Stasis
Beyond Light is significant for many reasons, but first of all, it marks the first time a new subclass has been added to the original Arc, Solar and Void trilogy. And that is only one the subclass derives its power from Darkness as opposed to Light. Diving into Beyond Light today is your chance to get started with Stasis to prepare for the threats of Lightfall.
At its core, Stasis is a power that unlocks the Guardian’s ability to slow, freeze, and destroy enemies; and each class has its own way to use the new element:
Warlock Shadebinder: Shadebinder can summon a Stasis staff that fires projectiles that can freeze opponents, immobilizing them instantly. Their Penumbral Blast melee was a burst of Stasis energy that rapidly burst from the staff and instantly froze anyone it hit.
revenue hunter: They can’t kill what they can’t hit. Hunters use the power of Stasis to slow enemies, doubling their effectiveness on the battlefield. Hunter’s Super has a pair of Kama blades that explode when thrown at an opponent, summoning a storm of Stasis that chases after strays.
Giant Titan: If getting up close and personal with the bad guys sounds like your style, can we recommend the Titan Behemoth? The Behemoth chose the most direct route to conflict resolution: forming a giant Stasis crystal gauntlet around their fist and punching to achieve peace.
It is on Jupiter’s moon Europa that you will discover Stasis as well as Eramis, Kell of Darkness, and her army of Fallen. As you play through Beyond Light’s story, you’ll discover her motives and a dark conspiracy unfolding on the doorstep of humanity.
In addition to the campaign that will take you across Europa, through Empire Hunts and Exo Challenges, there’s also a new three-player raid and six-player raid.
glass path: In the Asterion Abyss on Europa there is a Braytech facility holding a unique Vex portal. Eramis had ventured here with the intention of using this long dormant portal for an unknown purpose.
Deep stone catacombs: Deep below Europa’s surface is a facility created during the Golden Age. Knowledge of what it holds has been lost over time… until now. Something inside this secret cave whispered to Eramis. As she struggles to gain access, the Guardians intervene, and in the process, she learns the dark truth about what happened here.
Ready for the challenge? Ready to face the power that whispers to you from the cold, dark wasteland? Then maybe we should upgrade your weapons and armor…
From the Lightning Summoning Sniper Rifle to the Warlock gauntlet that damages enemies with poison, here are three of more ten New exotics you can start collecting today for your quest to Neomuna in Lightfall.
cloud: The final hit accurately generates lightning at the target location. Quick accurate shots will summon the entire storm at the point of impact.
necrotic handle: Melee attacks damaged warriors with damage that increases over time. Defeating a broken warrior will spread the decay to nearby targets and restore melee energy.
Cry: Block with The Lament to rotate the blade, then tear through shielded warriors. At its peak, damaging a warrior heals the user.
Some Exotics (like the Necrotic Grip) are so powerful that you can create brand new builds around them, and others easily fit into whatever playstyle you’re into at the moment.
It’s all just the tip of the iceberg. When Lightfall came out and introduced the world to the Strand (Destiny’s Monday By the way, subclassing Shadow—with grappling hook), you’ll have completely new ways to approach Europa with a completely different construction. Includes mixing and matching Beyond Light Exotics with Strand abilities and vice versa.
Just imagine suspending an enemy with a Strand and speeding up your Lament for a power attack or freezing a Tormentor in its path with Stasis. After you’re an expert grappling hook, how cool would it be to fly through the foundations of the Deep Stone Crypt using the Strand? The possibilities are limited only by your creativity.
In fact, you should probably just watch everything you think a grappling hook would be great to shoot at.
