Lexus sports electric cars, sedans, SUVs are revealed in the photos
On Monday, Lexus released new photos of its electric sports car, sedan and SUV, as well as the 2023 Lexus RZ 450h electric crossover for the United States.
The luxury car brand Toyota unveiled the BEV Sport, BEV Sedan and BEV SUV concepts in December 2021, calling them Electrified Sport, Electrified Sedan and Electrified SUV. It tease RZ 450h at that time. But these images provide a better view of all four vehicles.
The images also show that the RZ 450h will certainly bear some resemblance to the 2023 Toyota bZ4X from parent company Lexus. The RZ 450h is expected to share the platform with the bZ4X and Subaru Solterra.
2023 Lexus RZ
Lexus has specified that RZ coming to the US market and launch in production later this year. It follows LF-Z electrochemical concept displayed last year.
The Lexus BEV SUV concept hints at a larger electric utility vehicle with more traditional SUV styling than the RZ 450h. The look is more in line with Lexus’ current gasoline-powered GX and LX SUVs.
The BEV Sport concept could fit into the lineup as a successor to the limited edition Lexus LFA, thanks to a claimed 0-60 mph time in the low 2.0-second range. Lexus also cites “a range that can exceed 430 miles” and indicates the possibility of a solid-state battery.
Electrified Lexus Sedan
Finally, the BEV Sedan concept has a fast truck-like design that reminds us of the Porsche Taycan. An electric sedan Lexus is in production could compete with not only the Taycan but also the Audi E-Tron GT, Tesla Model S or Lucid Air.
Toyota plans to switch Lexus to BEV sooner than its main brand, which will keep electric vehicles intact focus on affordability, not scope. The range and acceleration performance of the Lexus BEV Sport, the luxury brand will go in a different direction.
Lexus has also suggested with its first EV — exclusively for Europe — that it plans to back up its battery with a long, long, warranty.
