Lexus Australia latest “customer service exercise” involving GPS antennas circa 1665 nx SUV does not receive power.
Of these, 38 have been delivered to customers.
This problem is the result of incorrect wire routing and as a result, the GPS function cannot work while the vehicle’s ignition is off.
If this occurs, safety features such as Track Stolen Vehicles and Remote Vehicle Identification will be disabled.
“The vehicles involved are equipped with a GPS antenna wire that connects the antenna to the Data Communications Module (DCM),” the company said in its announcement.
“Due to incorrect wire routing, the GPS antenna will not receive power and will not be able to function while the ignition system is OFF.
“Since the GPS antenna is not active while the ignition system is OFF, vehicle location cannot be determined and DCM will not transmit the current location to Track Stolen Vehicles (SVT).”
Lexus Australia said it will contact owners via text or email to inform about the exercise.
Customers who are aware of this issue should contact their preferred Lexus dealer to schedule a time for repair.
Repairs are expected to take less than an hour to fix, and the work will be done for free.
- Vehicles manufactured from March 1, 2023 to April 26, 2023 may be affected by the problem.

Lexus Australia says the vehicles will not display any enhanced warnings to the driver prior to the repair.
It says customers can continue to drive their car until the repair is done.
