Leica store robbed of $180,000 worth of equipment
Grinch arrived early this year. On Saturday, thick-fingered thieves stole $180,000 worth of camera gear from a Leica store in San Francisco.
In the early afternoon, the suspects showed up in a gray sedan—equipped with a handgun and various mallets. Within three minutes, hundreds of thousands of Leica lenses and cameras were gone. In addition, the thieves damaged boxes in the store for $20,000.
It’s not clear exactly which devices were stolen. But the SFPD is asking anyone with more information to call (415) 575-4444.
