Laura’s Pink Tile Bathroom Makeup (Before + After)

When you buy a home you’re going to remodel, there’s always a room that you consider the “worst” room in the house.

While our current 1960s home is filled with wacky decisions and quirks throughout, the main (and only) bathroom on the home’s main floor is a lot to take in. .

Originally, the walls were a green glass tile that was plastered decades ago (!!!) and painted purple.

There’s a block of glass everywhere, the ceiling is half blue glass and half pink glass tile, and the floor is gray parquet tile, this is one of the worst installation jobs I’ve ever done. we’ve seen.

The grout lines range from 1/4 inch wide to 2 inch wide in spots and you can put your toes in the uneven) and the shower is made of four different types of white tiles.

There’s a completely Broadway vanity with exposed bulbs on either side, and the only light for the room is the old vanity lamp mounted on the table.

It hung from the wall like a picture frame over the sink with wires everywhere. Oh, there’s just an old medicine cabinet with a big hole in it, so they just hung a mirror to cover it up. That’s a lot.

Bathroom decor is expensive, and this takes everything and does more to get it right, so I’m not sure if we’ll ever do this space soon after moving in.

The first year we focused on the rest of the upstairs, but as we neared the end of that major overhaul, it became clear that the upstairs was looking really nice and we really needed to make the bathroom to match. the rest of the house.

Since this gut job is beyond my ability to do it myself, we used our contractor to get it done this winter and the results have been amazing.

Probably the best decision I made during the renovation was to relocate the small sink cabinet to a wider alcove on the right side of the room so we could fit a vanity and countertop. spans the entire width of the recess.

The previous sink was blocking the way to the toilet and the “tabletop space” wasn’t large enough to keep my curling iron from constantly falling out. It also doesn’t help that an outlet in the space is on the opposite side of the room, haha.

We now have a much larger countertop area (it feels huge!) and I have a white quartz countertop to block the traffic of the main bathroom in the house.

Oh, and now there are two outlets above the vanity, so I can actually get close enough in front of the mirror to look and curl my hair, haha. That golden faucet really nice and I feel like faucets with a handle are also easier to use for kids.

There’s almost no storage in the old bathroom (past owners apparently all put a large cupboard in the room just for storage), so it’s great to have one. this vanity (alike this) with all drawers (they slide out underneath the sink to access taller items).

I turned off the traction on the vanity for those it’s a brighter yellow with rounded edges to match the other finishes better and they’re beautiful. I also added This soap dispenser and toothbrush holder rounded to continue to feel the curve here and there.

The light in the bathroom is also very unidirectional as all the windows are on one wall, so I used These 70s feel bridge lights to tilt the mirror and choose a mirror also has its own built-in ring light (same here) to even out the face for makeup, etc.

I also love the mirror light dims to a soft light and we use it as a night light in the bathroom so we and our kid can see in the middle of the night.

While I did have a bit of an accent on the vintage pink tub in my old bathroom, it didn’t come out in the best shape up close. But I make sure to keep some pink with these Fireclay’s beautiful glass tiles in Rosy Finch Gloss.

I love that they’re definitely pink but still feel like a neutral, and the size and stacked link pattern make it feel very modern and fresh. Lola was upset when she got out of the pink bath, but I still told her she was in the pink bath, so she agreed to that.

There’s something about the glass tile in the bathroom that feels so luxurious, and I love it.

Pink looks good too golden bathing suit that I’ve picked out, and it’s just a fun combination to watch as we shower or bathe. When it comes to bathing, replace your old bathtub with This pure beauty Also a great decision.

It’s a great soaker tub for the tub and the side walls are a lot taller so Lola can splash around more, and now very little water spills over the side walls of the tub compared to the tsunami we hit. I have met before every shower.

To match the gold bath kit, I have need a bath and i love this checkerboard curtain that adds a trendy pattern to the space.

I know I want to tile the bathroom with rose, but I wasn’t sure what to do with the floor for a long time. I really like a clean look of white on white on white (sue me, but I do), so I wanted to do something bright, but with a little twist.

I solved this problem Beautiful Fireclay tiles with Calcite and decided to put it in a herringbone pattern. I feel like herringbone has something to do with my love of all things Parisian, but since it also has white grout, it’s not crazy and doesn’t compete too much with the pink and floral pattern. white that the shower produces.

We also decided to add under-tile underfloor heating, not much more as it is a relatively small space. Valuable. Every. Coins.

My husband fell asleep on the floor and the cats got in there to lie on the pre-warmed bath mat at night (same style here). I love the arch in the reflective rug custom decor I added to the door upstairs again.

toilet in the bathroom

My brother was the one who introduced us to this fancy toilet that he installed when he remodeled his bathroom himself, and while it’s a bit confusing to learn about the toilet, let me first tell you it has a bidet setting that can Programmable (with adjustable warmth), post-wash dryer (with adjustable warmth), auto flush and heated seats.

It really needs a separate outlet since it’s electrically powered (we still have a “regular” basement toilet in case the power goes out, if you’re wondering), but overall it’s a The toilet is pretty awesome.

It’s hard to find a “nice” toilet brush, but I found it this to complete the set. There’s not much space in the area, but this flimsy trash just as printed.

I also asked my contractor to make an extra cabinet above the toilet so that we had more precious storage space. It looks like that area used to be a laundry trough, but now it’s above the bathroom in the basement, so we closed the door and used it as storage instead.

My husband grew up with a laundry trough though, and he swears it’s the best thing ever and we need to find a way to add another…

The previous bathroom didn’t have any towel racks as the grout/glass tile combination was difficult to put anything on, but I chose this one Towel racks, hand towel holderand keep toilet paper to match the look and added this Matisse print above the towel rack to compliment it.

To add some color to the main artwork in the room, I hung this print by one among my favorite artists that we had in our last house.

I also want a shelf to keep my most used things Leahlani skin care products out because I use them several times a day (and they’re nice enough to keep away, too). I also have this gold floating shelf to keep them and add some greenery and Super cute matches from Sarah’s friend’s shop (she used to be A beautiful message photographer back in the day!).

I can’t tell you how much we love the new bathroom and how much more functional it is than before. The first time you soak in the tub when it’s all done, it feels like being at the spa and it’s magical.

Someday I might do something a little more colorful or add some pattern to the walls, but for now I just like it all looking fresh and bright. What is your favorite part? so so. Laura
