KRT Launches Factory Team 2023
Filmed in Barcelona, the KRT MXGP team – with riders, Romain Febvre and 24-year-old Australian teammate Mitch Evans – joined forces with Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes, along with other team members from the KRT WorldSBK team , combining photography and video for the first time to showcase new team clothing and season-starting graphics for their Ninja ZX-10RR and KX450-SR machines.
The busy Winter testing period for both teams is now over. KRT WorldSBK departed early for the first race in Australia while the KRT MXGP flew in the opposite direction to Argentina.
Guim Roda – Team Manager KRT WorldSBK
“Racing is fun, exciting – a show – and we are delighted to be working with the MXGP project to showcase this passion. With the same passion we will attack 2023, with the same motivation to step into each race to fight until the last lap to win. We worked hard to polish some details, improve our bike and the organization of the team to try to win the title back. More importantly, we want to keep the fans entertained while watching the races and hope to ensure that a green bike stays ahead. Johnny and Alex are ready to go with fully charged batteries, so let’s see how strong we have come to this new season in Australia.”
Antti Pyrhönen – Team Manager KRT MXGP
“We are looking forward to the 2023 season. Our goals are set high. The drivers and team are working very hard and we are united to achieve these goals. We have the most competitive bike KX450-SR, very professional staff and great partners – so let the season begin.”
Alex Lowes – KRT WorldSBK
“I like the look of the bike. I really like the 2023 design. Last year I had some pretty good pace, good performances in qualifying and I could have been in the top three. As the race continued, as the handle dropped, I struggled a little more. That is an area we have focused on. I’m really looking forward to this year. I’ve had a good winter of training and I can’t wait to get started. It may have been a few years since I competed in the World Superbike Championship but I’m still as excited as the first time; like I felt in 2014. Now I’m looking forward to coming to Australia and starting a business.”
Jonathan Rea – KRT WorldSBK
“I am really excited about this new season. We’ve had a really solid season. I’m also excited to go to Phillip Island and start the year in a way that seems more ordinary to us. I felt that I was very well prepared when I got off the track and in the winter tests we improved, which is very motivating. It’s nice to have some new people around and that’s what makes it feel different. I’m eager to go. We’ve made progress with the bike and are working hard to try to improve our feel and results compared to last season. Hopefully we can challenge to win the race and fight for a world title.”
Romain Febvre – KRT MXGP
“My best hope is not to get hurt; this is the main thing for me. I need to show enough intelligence to push when I need to and be able to settle back down when I need to. This is my biggest thing to deal with. I feel like I have speed and right now, physically, I’m pretty good. It’s exciting to be racing again. I know the end result will come, so let’s see how things go in Argentina first, then step by step I’ll see where we are and what I have to do.”
Mitch Evans – KRT MXGP
“My hope and ambition for the 2023 season is to stay healthy and reach all the rounds. I want to start being a top contender and fight to win week after week and end the year in third place in the championship. I want to start building to be a future championship contender.”
