Social media users seem to think that latto mentioned Nicki Minaj while also naming her top three female rappers.

Latto shares her top female rappers
The rapper recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9, which aired on Tuesday, April 2, via YouTube. The interview appears to predict the rapper will headline Atlanta’s upcoming Birthday Bash concert.
It should be noted, Latto will be the first female rapper to ever headline this event, according to The Source.
About two minutes into the six-minute interview, the female rapper was asked to share her top three GOAT (Greatest of All Time) female rappers.
“Kim – I should say Kim,” Latto began by mentioning Brooklyn-based rapper Lil’ Kim. “I say Left Eye – rest in peace, Left Eye and the shawl.”
Social media speculated she was referring to Nicki Minaj
Social media users took to The Shade Room’s comments section to react to Latto’s list. Many people shared their confusion when she referred to someone as “Shawty.”

While Instagram user @mocurlsss added, “Oh my God, I thought shawl meant shawl lo and I was really confused 🥹🥹”

However, some people explained that they believe she was referring to Nicki Minaj.

Brief summary of the viral exchange between rappers
As The Shade Room previously reported, Latto and Nicki Minaj’s relationship took a turn in October 2022. At the time, Latto was nominated for a Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance with her hit single, ‘Big Energy’.
Minaj seemed to take offense to the Grammy Board’s nomination. At the time, the GRAMMY panel considered her recently released single, “Super Freaky Girl”, to be more pop than rap.
“If ‘Super Freaky Girl’ is pop, then so is ‘Big Energy,’” Nicki told fans on Instagram Live. “If you took ‘Super Freaky Girl’ out of rap and turned it into pop, do the same thing with ‘Big Energy.’ By the way, same producer on both songs… Let’s keep it fair. Even if I rap on a pop song, I still rap better.”
Shortly after Minaj shared her feelings, Latto came up to X to share that she couldn’t celebrate her nomination.
In response, Minaj criticized Latto for being “silent” instead of speaking up for her before the Grammy board.
In the end, the pair exchanged heated words.
