Color trends that Italian and LA women will both wear
There will always be stylistic differences between Americans and Europeans, but I’m especially fascinated by what lies at the center of the Venn diagram. Even though we live in different environments, how do we dress the same? Well that’s exactly the question I have for Giada Forte Forte. Is an Italian designer who spends a lot of time in Los Angeles and recently has reopened its beautifully designed store there, I think she’s the perfect person to weigh in on what trends Italian and LA women will be wearing this summer.
When it comes to color trends, Forte told Who What Wear that she thinks pastels will have universal appeal this season. “I feel like these ideas of poetic beauty and kindness are expressed through the pastel colors of our clothes,” she tells us. “The idea of delicate colors, dreamy patterns and pure shapes will transport you to a light, relaxing atmosphere this summer.” Another trend she mentioned was craftsmanship, which “highlights the importance of beautiful weaving traditions that bring a humanistic feel to clothes,” Forte told Who What Wear. “In fact, this is our main purpose at Forte_forte. For the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, we translated this to Hand embroidered jacket with wooden beads and stunning waistcoats, revealing knitwear, and bomber jackets and pants inspired by our classic cross-stitch tablecloths.”
Talk about combining Italian sensibilities with Los Angeles sophistication, that’s exactly what Forte_forte’s newly redesigned store on Melrose Place achieves. “Our store in Los Angeles embodies spatial clarity, in dialogue with the City of Angels: light and materiality, solidity and transparency intertwine,” says the designer. reflects the volumes and lines of Californian modernism, immersed in desert landscapes and bright sunlight.” “Two giant stone blocks from the Palm Springs desert also interact with the space, placed on top of each other in the exhibition area. For me, this is a special and unique project that enhances the contrast with Italian materials and finishes, enriching the balance of the components with new nuances.”
