The multi-talented actress, famous TV mother and businessman divorced from Carmelo Anthony after many years of raising children together. The details of her relationship have landed her in hundreds of headlines.
Thembi asked BMF actress what she has learned from love in her life, to which she replied that she wished she had spent more time. She later described their relationship as “heavy”.
I was probably… I started very young in my relationship. And maybe tried [take] my time a little more and learn more about love, partnership and marriage. And don’t jump right into such a heavy, heavy relationship so quickly.
La La reveals her ‘Type’ at the age of 40
After thinking about marrying Carmelo a bit early, La La also revealed what her “type” is now when she’s single.
She and her ex Carmelo have been together for over a decade. They got engaged on Christmas Day 2004 and got married in 2010. The ex has had a split time since first breaking up in April 2017.
According to Anthony, they have a 15-year-old son, Kiyan Anthony, and get along very well as parents.
La La then filed for divorce in June 2021 citing irreconcilable differences. She shares her insights on what she looks for in a mate after a divorce.
My type… you know what the truth is, I want to be open. Like I don’t want to have just one style, like, I want to be open to a style that I don’t think is my type or something. It’s not the norm when people expect me because I think when you’re dating you have to be open. Because if you have this super-checklist, then I don’t think you’ll find anyone.
The actress also added that she prefers unique personalities over the type of person she looks up to when dating.
I mean, sure, like BE YOURSELF has a great personality who knows how to communicate. That is, you know, personality is big. Communication is great. Be honest. I like people who are themselves, not trying to be anything else. Like, I can kick with your respect if you come to the table as yourself.
