KTM 890 Adventure has a little more fruit for 2023
2023 KTM 890 Adventure
KTM’s popular 890 Adventure will debut once in 2023, starting with new colors, bodywork and graphics, but the updates go a bit deeper than just styling.
Overall, we’re seeing tweaks that will make the car more usable overall with KTM promising a more comfortable seat and a new windshield for better protection.
New and adjustable foam-powered two-piece seat – offers a choice between 840 mm and 860 mm, with sturdy seat covers and a narrow design at the front to help with grounding. Additional accessory seat options are still available, including a one-piece low seat, while a lowering kit can lower the vehicle further if needed.
Updates extend to an upgraded 5-inch TFT display with USB connectivity, while the new switch block integrates a hazard warning function.
Features that can be unlocked as extras include a ‘Rally’ display mode, with a high-contrast minimalist design, while the default layout offers auto-brightness. The KTMConnect connector is required to synchronize the smartphone with the TFT display and open the Turn-by-Turn+ navigation.
Demo mode is another standard feature, activating any optional electronic features for the first 1500 km (such as Quickshift+ or Cruise Control), before automatically turning them off. That has caused a bit of controversy online, with some riders pointing out that they would have paid for all of these features if they only needed to be activated to work.
Also updated on the electronic front is the ABS system when cornering, without using 9.3 MP ABS, with Offroad Mode switching the car to Offroad ABS, with the rear ABS disabled, ignoring data tilt angle and trigger is less sensitive at the front of the car.
The front fork has also been updated, with new base settings aimed at providing a better package out of the box as well as the ability to adjust bounce and compression. It’s a 43mm WP open cartridge USD fork, matched with a WP APEX shock absorber, with rebound adjustment and an external preload adjuster.
The 21/18-inch wheel setup is now wrapped in Pirelli Rally STR tyres, however, you’ll need to join the range of accessories for the TPMS.
The 889 cc parallel engine produces 77 kW at 8000 rpm and 100 Nm at 6500 rpm, while also receiving a reworked airbox and aluminum wraparound guard that also protects the fuel tank but doesn’t change it. change.
All in all, the 890 Adventure 2023 looks to boast some nice improvements that the vast majority of riders will appreciate, the main question remaining is where the price will go compared to the old model.
The KTM 890 Adventure is now available for pre-order through any KTM authorized dealer in Australia and New Zealand and will be ready to go from February 2023.
