KL's Jalan Alor bans traffic from 6pm starting July 1

Jalan Alor, one of KL’s top tourist attractions, will be closed at night. DBKL signs have been put up and they show that the ban on traffic is from 6pm to 3am daily. Judgment begins tomorrow, July 1.

This means that the bustling food street will become a nightly pedestrian mall, which is a good move. As it stands, there is only one narrow lane left for cars at night when F&B customers dine al fresco on the street, and also people strolling the streets and crossing the street. Much safer for everyone when there is no traffic.

Also, there is ‘no carpet’ for vehicles. From the one-way Changkat section, one can go directly to Jalan Bukit Bintang to get out of the area. Calling drop-off cars can do the same at the top of Jalan Alor – let customers walk down the street and enjoy the atmosphere.
