Kliff Kingsbury buys a one way ticket to Thailand, not interested in training now

Prior to Arizona Cardinals Head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been approached by multiple NFL teams for interviews for their vacant offensive coordinator positions but is not interested in taking those opportunities, according to FOX Sports NFL insiders Peter Schrager.

Instead, Kingsbury bought a one-way ticket to Thailand and politely turned down teams that approached him, Schrager said. Many reports cast doubt on Kingsbury’s willingness to return to coaching positions in the NFL or college football in the near future.

Kingsbury, 43, went 28-37-1 in his four seasons as Arizona’s head coach. He was fired on Monday after Arizona finished 4-13 in 2022. Cardinals general manager Steve Keim, who hired Kingsbury, also resigned on Monday.

The Cardinals have already begun contacting candidates to replace Kingsbury, including incumbent defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, as well as former Saint New Orleans Current FOX NFL head coach and analyst Sean Payton.

Kingsbury’s experience as a dynamic caller and notable offshoot of the “Air Raid” training tree has fueled an incredible rise through the coaching ranks. After leading dynamic crimes at the college level, including working as an assault coordinator for Texas A&M in the Heisman Trophy campaign by Johnny Manziel, former star quarterback at Texas Technology under the late Mike Leach returned to his alma mater as head coach.

But Kingsbury hit 35-40 in six seasons with the Red Raiders before being sacked in 2018. He briefly took the job as of USC offensive coordinator before the Cardinals hired him, hoping to combine his Air Raid offensive behavior with that year’s #1 overall NFL Draft pick, Kyler Murraywho excelled in a similar system at the university at Oklahoma State.

Peter Schrager provides an update on Kliff Kingsbury

Peter Schrager provides details on Kliff Kingsbury’s whereabouts and explains why he’s not interested in returning to coaching right now.

However, Kingsbury and Murray have enjoyed limited success together. The Cardinals started 10-2 in 2021, but only finished 1-4 in the final five games of the season before being knocked out in the knockout stages by the eventual Super Bowl champion. The Los Angeles Rams.

FOX Sports college football reporter Bruce Feldman report at the beginning of the week that the Rams may be interested in bringing in Kingsbury as an assistant coach if his friend Sean McVay chooses to continue as head coach of the Rams. Although McVay is staying, it looks like he’ll have to look elsewhere to fill the team’s vacancy as offensive coordinator following the departure of Liam Coen.
