KINAHAN HYPOCRISY, COMPETITION MASTER PLAN, MORE… || FIGHTHYPE.COM

MAGNO'S ROOM ENVIRONMENT: KINAHAN HYPOCRISY, PACKING GENERAL PLAN, MORE...

Thursdays, in this corner of the Universo Pugilistico, all revolve around my sack– my swollen, bulging, sore sack– and the viscous, salty truth contained within. So… sit back, close your eyes, tuck your hair back and get ready for another wisecracking. This week, we have comments/questions regarding Arum’s Kinahan hypocrisy, master plans in boxing, and my coverage of Gervonta Davis.

Top Rated Kinahan Hypocrisy

Hey, what’s the matter, Paul. I want you to shed some light on BS with Bob Arum and Top Rated claiming they won’t do business with Probellum because of their “supposedly” relationship with Kinahan, but their top boxer in Fury has all sorts of things. relationship with him openly and they have not severed ties with him yet. Political reasons, organize a great fight with Prograis vs Ramirez. Think!!!

– Flintownto Az

Hello FlintowntoAZ.

What? Someone in the boxing business is a hypocrite? Out of here!

Seriously though, Like most things in boxing, it’s about the money. If there is a real amount of money involved in letting Ramirez take on Prograis, it doesn’t matter if Probellum is blood related to Satan himself. Arum can make money with Fury and no money giving Ramirez to Prograis. It’s as simple as that.

While there may be some fear out there dealing with anyone even remotely bound to Kinahan, that shouldn’t really stand in the way of any fighting being made. Boxing has a way of working things out and if the money is right, any fight can and will be done.

Bigger picture in Boxing?

Hi Paul,

Thanks for all your insights and knowledge. I especially enjoyed your latest work on Gervonta Davis. Make a humble point of view that needs to be heard.

I also appreciate your point about why some fights don’t get done and why some boxers don’t fight. But how many million dollars is enough? And does that really matter to some boxers? Most of us put our pants on one leg at a time. Or is it sometimes part of ‘a larger plan’?

For example, I don’t think Crawford vs Spence didn’t happen because of money issues. I believe the timing is not right, for boxing. Advertising boxing is a fine art. Building a long-lasting competitive weight division takes time. All need to participate and be eliminated or progress until only two are left. That’s what makes boxing interesting. The story of this 147 division is far from reaching the final. And rightly so, for these warriors were carefully and slowly raised and raised. What about Stanionis or Avenasayan, who fought in the knockouts and won the interim belt. Didn’t they promise there would be a crack in the title? or god willing, Boots Ennis? We don’t owe Keith Thurman or Vergil Ortiz to participate in this elimination, the best man wins? Because once Spence beats Crawford, there’s going to be a rematch. and hopefully a trio and we’re talking 3 years later until these other fighters get the chance they were promised.

So they gave Crawford his record-high reward, a walk in the park so Spence could take on someone else too. Because once a division has a champion and only those who challenge it, it becomes obsolete. The division of the table should be like the play-offs to find the real champion and an interesting championship. Your thoughts?

Thanks.

Hey Brian.

Thanks for the kind words.

As much as I like to think that there is some sort of divine order and plan to the action of boxing, I think almost everything in the sport revolves around basic money issues. Basically, people are trying to make as much money as possible while taking as little risk as possible. In the case of Spence-Crawford, I think the fans, the media, and the boxers themselves overestimated the amount of revenue the fight could generate and as a result, everything almost fell apart when reality contrary to expectations. The reality is getting in the way of a lot of big matches these days as everyone accepts the fact that it is increasingly difficult for the organizers to make a profit. The fact that new entrants to the market, swinging ridiculously high, are ready to make a loss is certainly not helping to get their foot in the door.

The ego also plays a part for many people. No one wants to claim to be a “B-Side” by receiving a smaller payout.

And, since the payouts for the lower risks are still good, there’s no need to rush to swallow pride and meet halfway for bigger fights (which isn’t more lucrative anyway). a lot of).

It’s just bad business all around. I honestly don’t think there is a bigger plan. It’s probably a case of making as much money as possible while doing your best to figure out what’s best for the sport.

A love letter from a Dimwit

You’re a real bastard. Shame on whoever lets you actually write about boxing but battlehype is for hood rats so that pretty much explains it. If I ever saw you in a fight, I would slap you right away.

– Jacob Thomas

Hey Jacob.

Are you special? Of course “Special” as in “Special Ed”.

As for “slapping me right away?” Yes, that will end badly for you. I know you don’t know my background and my lifestyle, but assume I’m worse than an internet bed-wetting guy who writes mean-girl hate letters to boxing writers.
